new Apple iPhone ads shows SingTel’s limitation

Apple released two new TVCs showcasing the abilities of the iPhone 3GS to support both voice and data, amidst some mudslinging between “AT&T and Verizon”:http://news.google.com.sg/news?q=verizon+aT%26T. But what those ads bring to light, is the 3G limitation of SingTel here in Singapore.

As you can see from the TVCs, you are able to call and also surf the web with Safari, check the emails – basically do anything with a data connection – but that is not supported here. As twittered by a friend who called SingTel hotline – it is due to “existing infrastructure” that we can’t do that here. Is that the case with M1 or Starhub network?

Anyway, here are the ads:

  1. Where’s the movie

One response to new Apple iPhone ads shows SingTel’s limitation

  1. I’m using an iPhone 3GS on M1 and I don’t think I can do voice and data simultaneously either.

I’ve tried sending an MMS while on the line doing a voice call with my girlfriend. The MMS seems to be able to be sent out, but my girlfriend was not able to receive the MMS till after she hangs up the call.
