R21 movies are removed from the iTunes Store listing

As reported in Straits Times(no link as it is paywalled) today, Apple removed all R21 titles from the “iTunes Store”:/2012/06/itunes-store-singapore/ just a day after launching in Singapore, on advise from “MDA(Media Development Authority)”:http://www.mda.gov.sg.

bq. “We have contacted Apple. All companies offering media content to Singapore should abide by local regulations and operate in a manner consistent with community norms and values,” said an MDA spokesmen.

Let’s hope it is really that Apple didn’t consult with MDA and not because some pay-TV operators are not happy about a service that is more accessible and affordable is available now to customers.
