Little details matter – Messages.app’s auto selection of language input method

iOS 6 automatically select the last input method used in the conversation.

Was chatting with my mom on the iPhone via Messages.app when I notice a slight change in how Messages determine the language input method to use. On iOS 5, the input method for Messages will be depended on your last usage – so if it was Simplified Chinese, it will remain as that for the next message that you send, regardless of the destination.

With iOS 6, the phone will remember which input method you last used for the conversation. So if I was conversing with my Mom in Simplified Chinese, and then switching to messaging another friend in German, when I return back to the conversation with my Mom, iOS 6 will automatically switch the input method back to Simplified Chinese.

This feature isn’t a big deal, but in markets like Asia where chances are you will be messaging in multiple languages, this will definitely save you one more click.

(Oh that boy in the pic, will be a future Apple geek as well.)
