Apple’s “MobileMe News blog”:http://www.apple.com/mobileme/news/ has sort of become a tip and knowledge site on using your MobileMe account as compared to being a MobileMe uptime status site when it started in August. The latest is on how easily you can “upload photos”:http://www.apple.com/mobileme/news/2008/11/photos-straight-from-iphone-to-the-web.html from your iPhone or iPod Touch straight to a MobileMe gallery with just a few taps on buttons.

bq.. Before you can send photos from your iPhone to the web, you need to set up an album in the Gallery web application at me.com. In Gallery, select (or create) an album, click the Adjust Settings button and then check the box to allow adding of photos via email or iPhone.

With that option set, when viewing a photo from the iPhone camera roll you need only touch the Send Photos icon in the lower-left corner, then Send to MobileMe, where you can choose among the MobileMe albums you allow this for. Enter any text you want to appear with the photo in the subject line, and send it. It will then appear on your Gallery album on the web.

Google’s been working hard in their effort to improve the features of the Google Map services in Singapore. First, we seen signs of Google Street View coming here soon.

Google Maps - finding Funan IT MallNow recently, they added Postal code search and reverse Geo-coding while in Google Map as posted by SinGeo.

With Postal Code search, you can key in the 6-digit postal code while searching. That said, the database seems to be incomplete as it failed to return a result when I searched for Apple Singapore (postal code 569086) or the Istana. But when a result is shown, Google been able to get within a block or two of the location – example Funan IT Mall.

This also works on the Map app on your iPhone & iPod Touch.

After some wait, the “Google Mobile App”:http://www.google.com/mobile/apple/app.html (“iTunes link”:http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=284815942&mt=8) has been updated with new features, included the much awaited voice search.

bq. That’s why we’ve added voice search to Google Mobile App for the iPhone — and made it super easy to use. Once the app is running, you don’t have to tap any buttons. Just hold the iPhone to your ear, wait for the beep, and say what you’re looking for — “Googleblog”:http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2008/11/now-you-can-speak-to-google-mobile-app.html

As much as I’d like to try, Google has disabled the voice search for iPod Touch, even with a plugged-in earphones with mic. Hopefully they will enable in the next update since some iPhone users will prefer to speak with the earphones.

Another new feature is the use of My Location to provide better search results based on your location.

If you have tried it, especially with Singaporean search topics, let me know how it goes!

Do note that this is only available via the US iTunes store.
